Switched feed
Where's the best/easiest place to access switched power on the 1100?

Re: Switched feed
Thanks Bob, I'm finally thinking of mounting the Z660 I've had since P'town (well, the second one actually, but that's another story
-Good 'ol Garmin My 2610 is wired straight to the battery and has the resultant contact corrosion. With the Zumo having on-board power, I was hoping to avoid that.

Re: Switched feed
easiest way is to wire across the battery, and take the fuse out when the gps is not being used. i found access to the 1150 fuse box a total PITA and to be avoided.
ps. not 100% on this, but AFAICT the zumo mount is itself powered, in that it steps the voltage down to 5v for the gps unit. |

Re: Switched feed
Yes Cookie, it is indeed the mount that is powered rather than a separate lead diect to GPS.
Anyone with experience of the 1100?

Re: Switched feed
what i meant was that the mount contains active electronics. it's not just a simple connector within a holder for the gps.

Re: Switched feed
Having chatted with my local Zumo and GS guru, Boxerman, I've decided to go straight to the battery and utilise a bit of silicone grease. As soon as I source a new battery
